Also, I had tried with the alternate isntall cd, and of course it worked as it doesn't need a graphics driver, but after the reboot it didn't...

Indeed, that good news because it means it's possible. Now, if you have these problems, that imples you did manage to install it then? If you did, do you mind sharing with us how you did it?
